Alan J. Ferrara
His estate planning practice runs the gamut from simple estate planning documents through family situations requiring sophisticated estate planning, gift planning, and succession planning for businesses.
During his career, Alan has been heavily involved in drafting all types of retirement plans and benefit plans. He also has significant experience with the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor Voluntary Compliance Procedures for correcting plan errors. He has helped many clients through the complexity of distribution rules from retirement plans and IRAs.
Alan was admitted to the practice of law in Michigan in 1976, and received his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University and his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in 1973. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Member: Corporation, Finance and Business Law Section; Taxation Section and Employee Benefits Committee; Probate and Trust Law Section) and is also a member of the American Bar Association.
Alan is a current Member, former Board Member and President of the Financial Planning Association, Michigan Chapter. Alan also is a former Board Member and a Past President of Walnut Creek Country Club.
